Hortonworks and AtScale Collaborate to Offer Easy Way to Connect to Hadoop

Hortonworks, Inc.,is partnering with AtScale to resell AtScale’s technology, providing users with the ability to query data without any data movement from any business intelligence tool.

“Our customers want simpler and faster ways to get insights out of the data they’ve stored in Connected Data Platforms,” said Scott Gnau, chief technology officer at Hortonworks. “This partnership will allow both companies to accelerate the adoption of BI on Hadoop and allow business users to create more value from the all of their data.”

The combination of AtScale with Hortonworks Data Platform allows customers to easily use their favorite BI and OLAP tools directly on Hadoop. This partnership also simplifies BI by eliminating the need to replicate data and maintain traditional data marts.

“With this partnership, we aim to provide global and universal access to our technology,” says Dave Mariani, founder and CEO of AtScale. “From day one, our goal has been to make BI and Hadoop work in harmony by erasing the friction associated with moving data and forcing end users to learn new BI tools. Hortonworks joins us in this vision and they are the perfect partner to help achieve this goal: they have a large distributed presence, a vibrant partner ecosystem and a market approach that makes AtScale technology available to millions of people.”

Both companies already share customers, on premise and in the cloud. Additionally, AtScale technology has been available on Microsoft Azure HDInsight which is built on HDP.
