COLLABORATE 11: IOUG Forum - All-Star Week with a Rock Star Cast

5,500 of the Oracle industry's best and brightest arrived in at the Orange County Convention Center (OCC) in Orlando Florida April 10th-14th to attend COLLABORATE 11. Their mission: To gain top-notch Oracle education from numerous IOUG-hosted sessions, to meet and network with fellow IOUG members and like-minded professionals, and to return home and impart the wisdom they gained with others. With over 1200 sessions, the event offered soup to nuts education for the entire Oracle professional community.

COLLABORATE11 was a week of networking, education and a celebration of all things Oracle. Both first-time and repeat attendees found numerous opportunities to network during the week, and took time to explore the Town Hall Square of the Exhibitor's Showcase. Oracle's Steve Miranda and Joanne Olson addressed Oracle's cloud computing strategy to a highly-engaged audience on Monday, April 11th. Many attendees noted that Oracle's presentation really the hit the mark and was not a marketing presentation! Over the course of the next three days, IOUG attendees selected their curriculum from a robust collection of education sessions, each helmed by a qualified subject-matter expert. Whether it was former IOUG President Rich Niemiec's DBA 101 Bootcamp, or Mark Townsend's " Better Together: Exadata with Analytics and Business Intelligence" IOUG made sure there was a little something for everyone.

The week closed out with an exclusive--and delectable!--closing session for IOUG attendees: the Iron Application Throw-down. This head-to-head competition between best technical architects of Oracle technology saw teams creating recipes for rapid-application design using their vast IT "kitchen" experience. Check it out!

IOUG would like to extend a big thank you to all of the volunteers who built the content and selected the presentations, to the attendees, exhibitors and other members of our community who made the week truly great. COLLABORATE 11- IOUG Forum was a huge success, and though it's only been a week since the conference closed, we're already looking forward to COLLABORATE 12, April 22-26th 2012 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Vegas: here we come!
