The IOUG and IT Convergence invite you to a Fast Track Oracle DBA Workshop, February 7-9, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. in Chicago. Please note the date change for this event.

This course acquaints students with the concepts and skills needed to become a proficient Oracle database administrator. Students who have experience or skills working with other database platforms should be able to leverage that knowledge as they learn Oracle database configurations and Oracle database administration.

The curriculum includes practical examples of setting up real Oracle environments as well as best practices for setting up large Oracle database environments. It also focuses on typical tasks that Oracle DBAs do to get started when administrating Oracle database environments.

This course will provide students with a basic understanding of fundamental Oracle database concepts such as security, upgrades, high availability, backup and recovery and performance tuning.

By the end of the course students will:

  • Understand the fundamentals behind the installation and set up of Oracle databases
  • Be fluent in the basic concepts and skills that guide day-to-day Oracle database administration
