Oracle Big Data SQL: Exadata, Database and Big Data Working Together

Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. CT

Big data promises big benefits to your organization, but real barriers exist in achieving these benefits. Today’s big data projects face serious challenges in terms of skills, application integration, and security. Oracle Big Data SQL radically reduces these barriers to entry, by providing unified query and management of data in Oracle Database, Hadoop and NoSQL.

In this session, you’ll learn the following:

  • When and where big data technologies like Hadoop become interesting to your organization
  • Understand the concepts behind Hadoop and how Big Data SQL leverages these concepts
  • Understand how Oracle Big Data SQL uses optimizations like Smart Scan on Hadoop to increase performance

Turning Reactive Approach Into Proactive

Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. CT

Do you know every aspect of your Oracle database? From each parameter, to the data health, down to the data block level? If you did and you were able to stay on top of all those details when a crisis occurred, would you immediately have the confidence to know what the problem wasn't?

The best offense is to have a plan and be able to work that plan. Regular health checks are the best approach to ensure you stay on top of all those details and are always prepared for the scenarios you might be reacting to on a regular basis today. This presentation will outline the tools to use to transition from defense into the best offense by working and planning pro-actively.

Redefine Oracle Database Infrastructure for Consistent User Experience and DBA Productivity

Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. CT

Until now, storage has always been a major bottleneck for delivering application SLAs and DBA productivity.  Eliminate the constant application and infrastructure tuning required to meet the SLAs and inefficiency and overhead involved with large copies required for production, Dev/Test and analytics and reporting with All Flash arrays (AFAs). EMC XtremIO All-flash Arrays deliver consistent performance, efficient capacity utilization with snapshots, data compression, deduplication and thin provisioning and management simplicity you need to totally transform your database infrastructure.

Attend this webcast to learn how DBAs can now provision storage with just three clicks, easily consolidate workloads, and fully protect and recover mission-critical data in the data center while always meeting application SLAs.

In Search of Plan Stability (Part 2)

Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. CT

Part 1 of this webinar set discussed the performance challenges caused by plan instability. Using SQL profiles and SQL patches are mechanisms that can provide targeted relief to individual SQL statements that have plan regressions. However, Oracle provides SQL Plan Management features that are intended to prevent plan regressions from creating challenges in the first place.

In this webinar, attendees will learn:

  • How SQL Plan Management (SPM) works
  • How SQL Plan Baselines are created
  • How SQL Plan Baselines are evolved/enabled for use
  • Limitations of SPM

Featured speakers: Karen Morton, Accenture/Enkitec and Scott Walz, Embarcadero
