Marrying the Private Database Cloud and DBaaS

Tuesday, September 23, 2014
11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. CT

What is the Oracle Database Cloud buzz about?  Come listen to the evangelist who pioneered the Database Cloud messaging and hear for yourself.

Learn the essentials to build your own private database cloud.  Once you build your private database cloud, you will want to learn how to deliver DBaaS.  The second half of the presentation will focus on explaining how DBaaS fits into the Oracle Database Cloud, the components that is needed to deploy DBaaS, and why you should consider DBaaS in your organization.

This presentation will lead into the Cloud Computing SIG meet-up at Oracle OpenWorld Sunday.

We welcome everyone to come and participate in the journey to the Cloud.

Featured Speakers and Oracle ACE Directors: Charles Kim and NItin Vengurlekar, Viscosity North America

How to Fire Up Your Oracle Database with Flash Storage At the Price of Spinning Disk

Tuesday, October 7, 2014
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. CT

By addressing the database performance issues that are commonly caused by poorly performing storage, flash storage is poised to rapidly replace traditional hard drives in the enterprise data center for applications such as Oracle databases. In this presentation we will use examples to demonstrate how radically the database performance can be improved when using a Kaminario K2 All-Flash Array versus a traditional HDD-based or a hybrid storage array. We will review the effects of flash on running mixed workloads that require consistently low latencies, high IOPS and high throughput.

Join us to learn how different Kaminario’s K2 is from other All-Flash arrays on the market based on its:

  • Highly efficient, scalable architecture which allows to deploy flash at $2/GB of usable storage
  • 3D performance consistency that delivers high I/O and throughput with low latencies
  • Enterprise resiliency and reliability with no single point of failure
  • Streamlined, intelligent management

In Search of Plan Stability (Part 2)

Wednesday, November 12, 2014
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. CT

Part 1 of this webinar set discussed the performance challenges caused by plan instability. Using SQL profiles and SQL patches are mechanisms that can provide targeted relief to individual SQL statements that have plan regressions. However, Oracle provides SQL Plan Management features that are intended to prevent plan regressions from creating challenges in the first place.

In this webinar, attendees will learn:

  • How SQL Plan Management (SPM) works
  • How SQL Plan Baselines are created
  • How SQL Plan Baselines are evolved/enabled for use
  • Limitations of SPM

Featured speakers: Karen Morton, Accenture/Enkitec, Scott Walz, Embarcadero
