How to Fire Up Your Oracle Database with Flash Storage At the Price of Spinning Disk

Tuesday, October 7
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. CT

By addressing the database performance issues that are commonly caused by poorly performing storage, flash storage is poised to rapidly replace traditional hard drives in the enterprise data center for applications such as Oracle databases. In this presentation we will use examples to demonstrate how radically the database performance can be improved when using a Kaminario K2 All-Flash Array versus a traditional HDD-based or a hybrid storage array. We will review the effects of flash on running mixed workloads that require consistently low latencies, high IOPS and high throughput.

Join us to learn how different Kaminario’s K2 is from other all-flash arrays on the market based on its:

  • Highly efficient, scalable architecture which allows to deploy flash at $2/GB of usable storage
  • 3D performance consistency that delivers high I/O and throughput with low latencies
  • Enterprise resiliency and reliability with no single point of failure
  • Streamlined, intelligent management

Big Data Analytics for Internet of Things (IoT)

Thursday, October 9
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. CT

The general topic of this presentation is the industry landscape of the Internet of Things. In his presentation, the speaker will compare and contrast the consumer Internet with the commercial and industrial Internet as well as introduce the paradigm shift as computing technologies are geared towards the industrial Internet.

From this webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • Explain how IoT generates Big Data
  • Utilize the machine or sensor data to obtain objectives
  • Apply Big Data analytics to gain business insights

Flow of presentation:

  • De-Mystifying IoT
  • Big Data from IoT
  • Applying analytics for business insights

Big Data and Hadoop on the Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance

Tuesday, October 21
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. CT

This presentation will discuss the best practices for deploying Hadoop on the Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance on both Hadoop 1.0 and Hadoop 2.0 solutions.

Speaker Brett Weninger will explain the methods for optimal configuration for implementing the Hadoop eco-system on ZFS and will share lessons learned from the Engineering Proof of Concept that ADURANT Technologies ran at the Oracle Solutions Center.

From this webinar attendees will:

  • Understand the architectural considerations for running Hadoop on enterprise storage arrays, specifically on ZFS
  • Understand the performance impact of running Hadoop on ZFS and how ZFS moves the performance bottleneck from being traditionally I/O bound to being CPU bound
  • Learn how to address the appropriate architecture
  • Understand how the performance of Hadoop on ZFS considerably reduces your data center footprint

In Search of Plan Stability (Part 2)

Wednesday, November 12
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. CT

Part 1 of this webinar set discussed the performance challenges caused by plan instability. Using SQL profiles and SQL patches are mechanisms that can provide targeted relief to individual SQL statements that have plan regressions. However, Oracle provides SQL Plan Management features that are intended to prevent plan regressions from creating challenges in the first place.

In this webinar, attendees will learn:

  • How SQL Plan Management (SPM) works
  • How SQL Plan Baselines are created
  • How SQL Plan Baselines are evolved/enabled for use
  • Limitations of SPM

Featured Speakers: Karen Morton, Accenture/Enkitec; Scott Walz, Embarcadero
