1,001 Reasons Why the Class of 2015 Should Consider a Mainframe Career


As students graduate from college this year and embark on graduate degree programs or searches for gainful employment, they should consider the advantages of a mainframe career, according to a new Mainframe Debate blog post: “Right now, across the country there are over 1,700 open mainframe positions at some of the world’s biggest and most respected companies. And no, they are not in the middle of nowhere; they are in many of the hottest markets in the country, like New York, Atlanta, San Francisco, and Washington D.C.” The article states that starting salaries for “mainframe developers” average $113,000, more than double the average salary for “electrical engineering” and more than three times the salary a psychology major can expect.
