2011: Another Great Year for Linux

2011 was another impressive year for Linux, writes Sean Michael Kerner in an article, "Linux in 2011: What a Great Year," at LinuxPlanet.com. Kerner looks back at some of the year's highlights including the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the operating system's founding, as well as new kernels and distributions that advanced the state of Linux, new releases from Red Hat and Ubuntu, and the return of SUSE Linux as its own business unit, separate from Novell.

In total, 2011 brought both "change and growth" to Linux, he reflects. "Linus Torvalds' ‘hobby' has turned into one of greatest success stories in the history of technology." Read the article.
