Linux 3.16 is Now Available

In a new Linux Foundation blog, Katherine Noyes looks at version 3.16 of the Linux kernel, which was released on August 3.

The release culminates a development cycle that wasn't always as smooth as Linus Torvalds would have liked but in the end cleaned up nicely, observes Noyes, who provides a close look into three notable features.

According to Noyes, Linux 3.16 is particularly important for its expanded ARM support, improvements to the control group feature, and enhancements to the kernel's collection of drivers.

More information about Linux 3.16 is available in Noyes’ blog, “Linux 3.16 Release: ARMed and Ready,”  and  in Torvalds’ official release announcement.
