New z13 Mainframe is Built to Provide an Enterprise Grade Linux Solution

In a new blog post, IBM’s Gerald Hosch discusses the key advantages of IBM’s new z13 mainframe for modern computing environments. “Increasingly, clients want to leverage their data, information, and applications anywhere and at any time,” he writes. The z13  provides the ability to process 2.5 billion transactions per day, as well as to provide an enterprise Linux environment, further opening the mainframe to the open IT world.  In addition, Hosch notes, that, expanding the capabilities the IBM mainframe has had for many years, “the z13 mainframe sets a new benchmark in Linux capacity provided with a single physical server. Organizations can now run up to 8,000 virtual Linux servers on one single z13.”
