AmberPoint Gets into Application Governance Solution

AmberPoint unveiled a new product intended to help organizations to govern their distributed and SOA-based applications. AmberPoint Governance System is intended to foster agile governance, ensuring continual compliance across both on- and off-premise clouds and all stages of the application lifecycle.

AmberPoint Governance System is "a companion to our management product," Ed Horst, chief marketing officer for AmberPoint, tells 5 Minute Briefing. "We have AmberPoint Management System product, which has been involved with managing applications, with traffic flowing, with work getting done. AmberPoint Governance System is more targeted toward the broader application governance aspect, throughout the lifecycle. But our focus continues to be the distributed, cloud, SOA, composite applications."

AmberPoint Governance System integrates with AmberPoint Management System, a solution for managing composite applications. The governance product employs an approach to application governance to provide oversight across development and operational environments. The solution monitors the application environment for change events and updates. It also continually discovers application components, configurations and resources, across both on- and off-premise clouds.

AmberPoint Governance is also intended to enable the introduction of governance capabilities in staged deployments. "We take a much more incremental approach where you can deploy new instances of governance, choose projects, and development teams, and perhaps locations that warrant it," Horst says.

The product includes a repository/registry for all application assets and resources available within the enterprise. It also presents an up-to-date view of the service inventory, including service metadata, lifecycle status and runtime summary.

AmberPoint Governance System will be generally available in the first quarter of 2010. For more information, visit the AmberPoint website.
