Axis Technology Unveils Data Masking Platform to Help Companies Ensure Compliance with New Federal and State Privacy Standards

Axis Technology, LLC, an enterprise IT consultancy and data solutions provider, has announced the availability of its DMSuite data masking platform. It is crucial for companies, especially organizations within the financial services, healthcare, and life sciences industries, to protect and secure customer information and patient records. And at a point where data security and compliance are among the top concerns of businesses across all industries, DMSuite delivers an easy to use, comprehensive data protection product that is backed by a team of IT consultants with decades of experience, according to the vendor.

DMSuite version 3.0, the first generally available release as a stand-alone product, secures database environments by removing confidential data and replacing it with usable, fictitious data. "The data does not get scrambled and as such continues to be usable by the applications which run on the database," Mike Logan, president of Axis Technology, explains to 5 Minute Briefing. "The data is realistic, but not real, and so preserves confidentiality without impacting transaction processing." With self-service functionality, DMSuite is platform-agnostic and can be used straight out of the box. It protects and supports databases such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, Sybase ASE, Informix, Teradata, VSAM IMS, and PeopleSoft. Additionally, DMSuite plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with standards such as Payment Card Industry (PCI) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) by being pre-built with templates for these and other standards.

DMSuite is automated for easy configuration and provisioning and runs on top of various applications and databases. It has a profiler that scans new data and makes decisions on its level of sensitivity based on pre-defined business rules. Sensitive data items get added to a masking inventory which is used as a filter for determining when specific data items need to be protected. Also, DMSuite's web-based, central point of control enables easy operation, administration, logging and auditing-all while maintaining referential integrity across business lines and different platforms.
