Talend, a provider of open source data management software, today announced the release of Talend 4.0. With this major upgrade to the company's flagship data management solutions, Talend is delivering an integrated data management platform that combines data integration, data quality and master data management (MDM) within a single solution, enabling Talend customers to further streamline and reduce the complexity of their critical data management projects.
As a completely unified data management platform, Talend 4.0 as a significant milestone for the company, notes Yves de Montcheuil, vice president of marketing at Talend. "We started with data integration - that was our go-to-market product - then we added data quality and more recently we added master data management. And now with this new version we are bringing a completely unified data management platform to the market." All of these disciplines are very closely related, and it is important to manage them all together, notes de Montcheuil. "It is very difficult to do data integration without doing data quality, and in order to do master data management, you need data integration and data quality, but master data management is also a discipline of data quality that is related to data governance."
Talend 4.0 includes a single development studio based on Eclipse, that provides users with consistent ergonomics, fast learning curve and a high-level of reusability. It also provides common metadata repository that promotes sharing of vital information assets including user data, application metadata, business models, business rules, transformation and validation rules, connectors, data validation and workflows. Cross project data lineage and impact analysis is also available throughout the repository. Talend 4.0 also offers a unified deployment environment, that includes a distributed and high availability execution paradigm, single monitoring console and real-time execution reporting.
Talend Open Studio, Talend Open Profiler and Talend MDM Community Edition are provided under the GPL license and can be downloaded at no charge. Talend Integration Suite, Talend Data Quality and Talend MDM Enterprise Edition, which include value-added features and services are provided under a subscription license.
