Clerity Certifies Software for Moving Mainframe Workloads to Oracle Exadata and Exalogic

Clerity Solutions, a provider of mainframe migration, modernization and optimization solutions, announced that it has certified its UniKix Mainframe Rehosting software to work with Oracle Exadata Database Machine and Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud engineered systems.

Clerity, a Silver level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork, performed its own certification process on UniKix release 11.3.1 and greater with Oracle Exadata, Oracle's high performance, massively parallel database machine, and Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud, which provides enterprises with a foundation for mission-critical private cloud computing.

Deployed in more than 50 countries, UniKix technology can help companies to lower annual operating costs up to 70%, while providing a flexible path forward for mission-critical mainframe application and data investments, Clerity states. The company counts large enterprises such as BNP Paribas, The Clearing Corporation, and the U.S. Department of Defense among the customers who depend on UniKix to power business-critical online and batch applications originally written in a variety of languages, including COBOL, Natural, Assembler and PL/1.

Explaining Clerity's motivation for certifying with Oracle Exalogic and Exadata, Wendy Williams, director of marketing, Clerity, tells 5 Minute Briefing, "We are starting to see a greater interest in cloud-based initiatives from our customers. They are looking for ways not only to move their file-sharing and basic applications to the cloud but they are also starting to talk about how they can move some of their critical business-imperative applications to the cloud as well." The new certification demonstrates to customers that if they are going in that direction, they can go that way with Clerity and take their legacy applications to the cloud environment, she adds.

Oracle sets up guidelines as to how to self-certify for Exadata and Exalogic and in this case, the certification was done by Clerity in its lab in Phoenix, Williams says. From a partnership perspective this is another milestone in Clerity's path to strengthening its relationship with Oracle, notes Cameron Jenkins, chief operating officer of Clerity. "We have been working with them for many, many years."

UniKix Mainframe Rehosting software has two core products, UniKix Transaction Processing Environment (TPE) and UniKix Batch Processing Environment (BPE) software. According to Clerity, UniKix TPE provides a native transaction processing system for deploying rehosted IBM CICS applications, IBM IMS transactions, Natural online and related resources on Linux, UNIX, and Microsoft Windows based platforms. UniKix BPE provides a complete environment for administering, executing, and managing IBM z/OS and IBM z/VSE batch JCL workloads that have been migrated to open systems without excessive code change or complex integration requirements.
