HiT Software Upgrades Change Data Capture Tool; Now Interoperates with Netezza Appliances

HiT Software, Inc., a provider of data integration, replication and transformation products, has announced that the newest version of DBMoto, its change data capture (CDC) and data replication solution, has been expanded to include multi-server synchronization. In addition, the release also offers a dynamic, configurable GUI (graphical user interface), and provides updates for remote administration and advanced security options, as well as additional database support. DBMoto 7 will be released in the second quarter of 2010.

"This idea of cross-enterprise data synchronization is something that has been brought up by our customers who have needs for both operational data integration and analytic data integration," Carolyn Hughes, marketing director of HiT Software, tells 5 Minute Briefing. Hughes notes that in the past, DBMoto has offered bi-directional synchronization, so both the source database and the target database become both sources and targets, with data shared between the two of them in real time, both becoming copies of each other. In response to the need of customers that have multiple databases of different types and want to make sure all data is synchronized at the same time, HiT has developed this new multi-server synchronization, says Hughes.

With this latest release of DBMoto, Hughes says, "We built new algorithms and we have built in conflict resolution to make sure that the data is updated appropriately. We call it one-to-many multi-server synchronization. That is really valuable for large organizations." For organizations that have a need to synchronize databases prior to going to a virtual environment, Hughes points out, "We are helping them to take the first step to get to a virtual system."

Increasing its list of supported databases, with this new release, HiT Software adds support for snapshot replication and CDC for Netezza data warehouse appliances (as a target), from any major database including IBM DB2, Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server. DBMoto 7 also now provides transaction log-based support for CDC and synchronization with an IBM DB2 LUW (Linux, Unix, Windows) source; and support for DB2 for IBM i minimized journal entries.
