Hyve and Zettaset Partner with IBM to Help Clients Tap Big Data Analytics

Hyve Solutions, a division of SYNNEX Corporation has entered a software licensing agreement with IBM to offer IBM InfoSphere BigInsights software with its BigD family of systems hardware. The turnkey platform is intended to provide mid-market clients with an enterprise-class big data system to help them quickly deploy Hadoop-based analytics without the need for on-premise professional services or developers. The solution is in beta testing now and will be generally available in 30 to 60 days.

According to the companies, small-to-medium-sized businesses are looking for an easier way to analyze big data and uncover hidden insights inside large amounts of unstructured data. Hyve Solution’s BigD offerings including Series2 and Series8 systems aim to address this need and, Hyve says, can be easily deployed in less time than is required by traditional Hadoop implementations. InfoSphere BigInsights software was developed by more than 200 IBM Research scientists and brings Apache Hadoop to the enterprise. The software is part of IBM's big data platform to help clients.

To achieve enterprise-class standards in BigD systems, Hyve Solutions and IBM collaborated with Zettaset, Inc. to build in safeguards that provide service management, failover and restart, as well as alerting and monitoring features. Each system comes with a suite of plug and play applications that run seamlessly with BigInsights.

“This is a truly bundled solution that has all the pieces not only that an enterprise needs to get Hadoop up and working and create manageable data sets and so forth, but to actually apply analytics,” Jim Vogt, CEO of Zettaset, tells 5 Minute Briefing.  “It is a turnkey solution to basically go after the big data issue and it takes the Hadoop issue right off the table. People say they have a big data issue, but at this stage in the market what they have is a Hadoop issue - and we take care of that for them.”

“Big data analytics are creating business opportunities for midmarket companies that are willing to explore new kinds of data for strategic decision making,” notes Anjul Bhambhri, vice president of Big Data Products, IBM. “The combination of Hyve Solutions and IBM technologies provides clients with an integrated system that makes it easier for smaller organizations to tap big data in ways they’ve never done before.”

Hyve Solutions and IBM also partnered with Fusion-io, Inc. to achieve high data throughput and scalable performance for the BigD Series8 cluster.
