MapR Integrates NoSQL Database in Hadoop Distribution

MapR Technologies, one of the top ranked distributors for Hadoop, has announced that MapR-DB is now available for unlimited production use in the freely-downloadable MapR Community Edition.

MapR-DB is an in-Hadoop database that integrates natively with Hadoop, supports automatic sharding and rebalancing of a cluster, and can enable new use cases involving data streaming and real-time analytics.

“From a developer standpoint, they can combine the best of Hadoop, which is deep predictive analytics across the data, as well as a NoSQL database for real-time operations,” explained Jack Norris, chief marketing officer for MapR Technologies.

MapR-DB will handle the operational aspects of data such as reads, writes, updates, and deletes. Hadoop will handle the analytical aspect of the data such as large reads and writes on historical datasets and typical input/output.

Operational analytic environments can be complex with multiple technologies handling the operational and analytical aspects of the data. With industry-leading speeds of over 100 million data points per second on only four nodes, MapR looks to handle both aspects on one platform.

MapR-DB will handle the operational aspects of data such as reads, writes, updates, and deletes. Hadoop will handle the analytical aspect of the data such as large reads and writes on historical datasets and typical input/output.

With MapR-DB freely available in the community edition, the maximum flexibility and performance capability is available to organizations and developers, stated Norris.
