MongoDB Introduces Major Enhancements to MongoDB Management Service

MongoDB has announced major enhancements to its MongoDB Management Service, the cloud-managed MongoDB service that makes it easy to provision, monitor, backup, and scale MongoDB.

According to the company, MMS aims to simplify operations for MongoDB deployments of any size, reducing operational overhead by 95% for many operations, according to the company.

“MMS completely changes the way people run MongoDB,” said Eliot Horowitz, co-founder and CTO of MongoDB Inc. “MMS makes it simple – most operations have been reduced to a single click. MMS also makes operations reliable – everything we know about running MongoDB is built into MMS – upgrades, scaling, rebalancing and other critical operations are performed with no downtime to your app.” MMS is also packaged as a service with "an elastic pricing model."

MMS provisions any MongoDB topology, at scale, with the click of a button, and for Amazon AWS users, MMS can provision and optimize instances for MongoDB automatically. MMS works with any internet-connected infrastructure: public cloud, private cloud, even laptops, allowing users to control all their deployments through a single interface, no matter where they run.

MMS backs up  deployments continuously, with no impact to the overhead of the deployment, enables point in time recovery, and allows user to be notified on custom alerts for over 100 system metrics, via email, SMS, PagerDuty, HipChat, among others.

According to MongoDB MMS is free for the first 8 servers, then $50/server per month.
