ProfitBricks Launches Docker Hosting Platform

ProfitBricks, a provider of cloud infrastructure IaaS, has launched an early preview of its new Docker hosting platform.

Docker provides container technology, allowing developers and system administrators to build, ship, run and orchestrate distributed applications, reducing application delivery and improving infrastructure efficiency by eliminating the need for virtualization.

Early access customers will be able to utilize up to 2,500 CPU core hours as part of ProfitBricks' early access Docker hosting platform preview. The platform will be released for general availability later this year.

“This is making us the most painless infrastructure available,” said Achim Weiss, CEO at ProfitBricks. “We combine the flexibility of the platform with the ease of use of containers and still maintain a high level of security.”

The ProfitBricks Docker platform will enable its customers to build fully-portable applications within the ProfitBricks cloud.

The solution provides developers and system administrators with a platform that has dedicated resources that autoscale the Docker hosts.

This, together with the security of SSH Key download support and a full control panel, provides a better performing and easier to use Docker hosting solution for DevOps teams.

This early access program will allow ProfitBricks to gather feedback and improve the platform, according to Weiss.

Developers will benefit the most from this new platform, according to ProfitBricks. “The beauty is they don’t have to rely on system administration guys anymore to set up stuff,” Weiss said. “In the past, the developers had no idea how to set up and run Apache in a secure way, now you can just take a Docker image, put it in the application and it’s addressed by the container.”
