Splunk Offers Operational Intelligence for the Cloud with Release of Splunk Storm

Splunk Inc., a provider of operational intelligence software, has released a cloud service offering for organizations that develop and run applications in the public cloud using services such as Amazon Web Services, Heroku, Google App Engine, Rackspace, and others. Splunk Storm enables users to diagnose and troubleshoot application problems instantly, attain rapid insight into cloud-based applications, as well as monitor vital business metrics to achieve more effective operational intelligence.

Running on AWS, Splunk Storm is a fully managed and multi-tenant service that provides all the resources to store and analyze data. “You can send any data to Splunk Storm, scale it up or down, and pay for your usage monthly,” Leena Joshi, Splunk’s senior director of solutions marketing, tells 5 Minute Briefing. Splunk Storm is cloud-agnostic, enabling users to index and store data in real time from any source, format, platform or cloud provider without needing custom parsers or connectors.

Other key features in Splunk Storm include a powerful search language that can search real-time and historical machine data, filter events, and correlate information across various data types. Customers can also generate reports dynamically and collaborate and share their projects with others in their organization for cross-functional views of the data.
