Star Analytics Seeks to Bridge Oracle Data with Updated Star Integration Server

Star Analytics, Inc., a provider of application process automation and integration software, has released the latest version of its data bridging technology, Star Integration Server, which is intended to make it easy to extract and combine data from Oracle systems with other business intelligence (BI) applications and data warehouses.

Star Integration Server enhances enterprise performance management (EPM) environments by serving as a data bridge that extracts data, metadata and security rules from Oracle Essbase, Oracle Hyperion Financial Management and Oracle Hyperion Planning applications in an open and standards-based format, according to the vendor.

As an extension of Oracle Exalytics with an embedded in-memory version of Essbase OLAP server, Star Analytics says that its new release offers customers a valuable component to tap into the data resource, and Exalytics users will benefit from Star Integration Server's non-scripted, high performance module to extract data from underlying Essbase BSO and ASO cubes in Oracle Exalytics.

"Oracle Exalytics is a very powerful product," Quinlan Eddy, founder and CEO of Star Analytics, tells 5 Minute Briefing, but if clients need to share the data with other reporting technologies or other data warehouse technologies, "it is difficult to actually make that data available."  As a result, he says, demand has grown for a tool to bridge Oracle data into an open data warehouse format that can be used for other reporting options.

With streamlined corporate reporting and decision-making, the latest release of Star Integration Server is aimed at making critical corporate planning, forecasting and financial data more available to a wider variety of BI systems.  The new release provides performance improvements for extracting data from Oracle Essbase cubes, enabling faster access to time-sensitive data for analysis and reporting.  "We have a new patent-pending method for extraction," Eddy notes, "that allows companies to ensure that things like ‘drill-paths' and ‘Time' and ‘Accounting' intelligence are preserved."

In addition, the latest version of Star Integration Server provides a new client-side extraction capability.  This, "enables our clients to more easily access the Exalytics Essbase system that might be in the remote data center," Eddy explains.

Star Integration Server is available now and can be downloaded as a free 30-day trial on the company's website, www.staranalytics.com
