Behind System z's New Server Market Leadership


New market data shows the server market in an upswing, growing by about 12% a year - the fifth consecutive quarter of year-over-year revenue growth. Helping to lead the way are IBM's System z mainframe servers, representing close to one-tenth of server sales. The economy may be kicking into renewed growth, but companies are still trying to hold the line on IT expenses and IT sprawl. Mainframes are increasingly seen as platforms that can support growing workloads, as well as a highly available foundation of emerging private cloud environments.
