Facebook Seeks to Disrupt the Data Center

Last year, Facebook launched its “Open Compute Project,” which seeks to create an open source server and the hypervisor orchestration layer. Facebook continues to move forward with the initiative, which would make CPUs swappable above and beyond the network interface – eliminating reliance on proprietary servers. Will Facebook, which has one of the largest collections of data centers on the globe, change the way all companies think about data centers?
