A recent survey among 1,295 members of the Society for Information Management (SIM) finds a great deal of support for the shared services concept. The average percentage of shared IT services increased by more than 50%—from 42% in 2016 to 63% in 2018. More than 90% of organizations used at least some shared services. In addition, 37% of organizations indicated they deliver more than 90% of all IT in a shared service model. Cloud adoption has a lot to do with the continuing embrace of shared services—79% report their cloud adoption has been on the rise.
