Why Software-Defined Data Centers are a Hot Topic in Washington

Our friends at MeriTalk, a public-private partnership, recently shared some interesting survey findings with us: federal agencies are having a hard time keeping up with IT innovations – on average, 79% of federal IT budgets are spent in maintaining legacy environments. MeriTalk finds that most federal CIOs feel they have an opportunity to move more budget to IT innovation in a software-defined data center, where compute, storage, and networking resources are virtualized.

A majority agree that “a transition to software-defined models will unlock significant cost savings and enhance IT performance.” To stay on top of all the trends, subscribe to Database Trends and Applications magazine at www.dbta.com/subscribe.
