In my last column, I discussed shadow IT and suggested that this might be the future of IT rather than an anomaly. Reframing what IT might look like in the future, and acknowledging that it could be radically different than it is today, is a challenging task but not an impossible one. In fact, I would suggest that such reframing is necessary if IT is to remain relevant.
Oracle announced new releases of Oracle Transportation Management and Oracle Global Trade Management, which help customers optimize their logistics and global trade compliance operations. The solution provides comprehensive transportation and global trade management functionality on a unified platform, spanning transportation, compliance and customs processes across industries and geographies.
SolarWinds, a provider of hybrid IT infrastructure management platforms, is adding support for MySQL databases to SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer (DPA) 10.0. "DPA allows you to quickly pinpoint what is slowing down your database and applications and you can find problems that are usually very hard to find within your database," said Gerardo Dada, vice president of product marketing at SolarWinds.
Think About It
Marketers continue to become more technologically astute as their roles evolve, but one tool remains under-utilized: data management platforms. These platforms provide numerous ways for marketers to slice and dice data to develop compelling ways to reach customers, often in real time. However, when used incorrectly, these platforms can push marketing campaigns off-course - which is why marketers must get smart on what the platforms are designed to do and how to use them most effectively.
