T-Systems will now have the ability to provide its customers with cloud access to IBM's quantum systems, including multiple quantum computers powered by the 127-qubit IBM Eagle processor. The Deutsche Telekom IT subsidiary will embark on the path to providing access to this technology, as well as insights on how it can be applicable to its customers' businesses. In addition, T-Systems will offer dedicated quantum know-how and training.

Cleveland Clinic and IBM officially unveiled the first deployment of an onsite private sector IBM-managed quantum computer in the United States, dedicated to healthcare research with an aim to help Cleveland Clinic accelerate biomedical discoveries. Quantum computing is a rapidly emerging technology that harnesses the laws of quantum mechanics to solve problems that today's most powerful supercomputers cannot practically solve. The ability to tap into these new computational spaces could help researchers identify new medicines and treatments more quickly, according to IBM.

A long, long time ago—in the early 90s—I first worked as a DBA with responsibility for enterprise databases. I will never forget how surprised and disappointed I was to discover that the data in the database files were completely unencrypted.  A system administrator with access to the database files could read the data in those files, even if they didn't have a database username and password.

Rocket Software announced it will launch the first of its new MultiValue (MV) eLearning modules. Available in late February, the first module is an MV Foundation path that covers eight topics: querying files and records; editing records and fields; creating files; describing files, records, and fields with a dictionary; creating interactive (I-type) fields; manipulating selections of data with select lists; writing a simple program with prompts and conditional logic in a paragraph; and increasing performance with hashed files and indexes.
