Veritas Technologies, a provider of enterprise data protection products, has updated its Enterprise Data Services Platform to extend ransomware protection to every part of the enterprise. Veritas' flagship NetBackup solution delivers ransomware protection for containerized environments, immutability for Amazon S3, and integrated anomaly detection. Further enhancements include the launch of the NetBackup Flex 5350 appliance, which offers data immutability, expands performance, and completes the upgraded Veritas family of ransomware-hardened data protection appliances.

Red Hat has introduced the open source StackRox community as well as the Konveyor open source project, targeted at helping in Kubernetes adoption. The StackRox community is the upstream project that will work to open source and manage the code that powers Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security for Kubernetes. Konveyor is aimed at helping to modernize and migrate applications for open hybrid cloud deployments.

Classiq, enabling the development of quantum algorithms and applications, announced it has secured $14.5 million in funding that will enable the company to accelerate the development of quantum computing software. The $10.5 million Series A financing round was led by Team8 and Wing Venture Capital, with additional participation from Entrée Capital, OurCrowd, and IN Venture, the corporate venture arm of Sumitomo Corporation in Israel, and follows a $4 million seed financing round from Entrée Capital.

Rocket Software, a global software leader for IBM Z and IBM i, has announced the availability of Rocket Terminal Emulator. The new release, the company said, is the culmination of decades of investment in a critical and often-overlooked technology space. "Our years of investment in terminal emulators have delivered a feature-rich, highly configurable solution that enhances host access for users while keeping costs low," said Christopher Wey, president of the Rocket business unit that develops cross-platform utilities. "We are offering this software upgrade at no cost to every Rocket terminal emulation customer, including BlueZone and Passport users, ensuring all Rocket customers have exceptional access to critical systems."

Starburst, the analytics anywhere company, is receiving $100 million in Series C funding, enabling the company to expand upon its single point of access mission. This recent financing bringing the three-year-old company's total to $164 million and valuation to $1.2 billion. The financing round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Salesforce Ventures, as well as existing investors Coatue and Index Ventures.

IBM has announced that it will separate the Managed Infrastructure Services unit of its Global Technology Services division into a new public company ("NewCo"), creating two companies, each with strategic focus and flexibility to drive client and shareholder value. The separation is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
