Amazon's Just Walk Out technology seemed like the epitome of futuristic shopping when it debuted at Amazon Fresh stores. I, like many, was thrilled about the potential of advanced AI transforming the shopping experience. The idea of simply grabbing items and leaving without the hassle of a traditional checkout process was a game changer. I believed that the technology arm behind these stores, Amazon Web Services (AWS), was at the forefront of AI innovation. However, the recent revelations about the true nature of this technology have left me, and many others, feeling disappointed and misled.

Oracle is introducing Oracle Code Assist, an AI code companion, to help developers boost velocity and enhance code consistency. Powered by large language models (LLMs) running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and optimized for Java, SQL, and application development on OCI, Oracle Code Assist is planned to provide developers with context-specific suggestions that can be tailored to an organization's best practices and codebases. Oracle is releasing Oracle Database 23ai, Oracle's converged database, as a broad range of cloud services—including Oracle AI Vector Search and more than 300 additional major features focused on simplifying the use of AI with data, accelerating app development, and running mission-critical workloads. Microsoft announced it is collaborating with Brookfield Asset Management to invest more than $10 billion to develop renewable energy capacity to power the growing demand for artificial intelligence and data centers. Brookfield will deliver 10.5 gigawatts of renewable energy for Microsoft between 2026 and 2030 in the U.S. and Europe under the agreement. The companies described the deal as the largest single electricity purchase agreement signed between two corporate partners.
