Oracle has announced the Oracle Cloud Native Framework which the company says will provide developers with a cloud-native solution that spans public cloud, on-premise, and hybrid cloud deployments. The Oracle Cloud Native Framework also introduces Oracle Functions, a serverless cloud service based on the open source Fn Project.

C3 is releasing version 7.8 of its platform, delivering improvements for developers, data scientists, and end users. The update introduces a new C3 Integrated Development Studio, (C3 IDS), enhanced security, improved performance and scalability, new model management capabilities, updated machine learning pipelines, local Docker development environments, and other features across the suite of SaaS C3 Applications. Tableau's new Ask Data allows people to ask questions in plain language and instantly get a response. Tableau will return an interactive visualization with no need to learn data dimensions, measures, or any data structure. According to Tableau, Ask Data uses sophisticated algorithms that are driven by an understanding of the person's intent, not keywords, which helps Tableau understand a person's question, anticipate needs, and allow for smart visualization selection.

IBM reported growth in the most recent quarter, much of it led by its cloud computing initiatives. Strategic imperatives revenue over the last 12 months was $39.5 billion, up 13%. Total cloud revenue over the last 12 months was $19 billion, up 20%, with $8.1 billion from hardware, software, and services to enable IBM clients to implement hybrid cloud solutions across public, private and multi-cloud environments, and $10.9 billion delivered as a service. The annual exit run rate for as-a-service revenue increased in the quarter to $11.4 billion, up 21%.

Oracle and NVIDIA have announced that Oracle is the first public cloud provider to support the NVIDIA HGX-2 platform on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, helping to meet the needs of the next generation of analytics, machine learning and  artificial intelligence (AI). The companies are also announcing the general availability of support for GPU-accelerated deep learning and high performance computing (HPC) containers from the (NGC) container registry on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
