In the seminal novel 1984, George Orwell imagines a dystopian future in which governments routinely rewrite historical records as a means of control: "He who controls the past controls the future." While few Western governments have yet to engage in the wholesale creation of false history, the practice is too common in totalitarian governments. NVIDIA and SoftBank Corp. are collaborating on a pioneering platform for generative AI and 5G/6G applications that is based on the NVIDIA GH200 Grace Hopper Superchip, which SoftBank plans to roll out at new, distributed AI data centers across Japan. Paving the way for the rapid, worldwide deployment of generative AI applications and services, SoftBank will build data centers that can, in collaboration with NVIDIA, host generative AI and wireless applications on a multi-tenant common server platform, which reduces costs and is more energy efficient, according to the companies.

IBM Consulting is establishing a Center of Excellence for generative AI to stand alongside IBM Consulting's existing global AI and Automation practice, which includes 21,000 data and AI consultants who have conducted over 40,000 enterprise client engagements. The Center of Excellence (CoE) already has more than 1,000 consultants with specialized generative AI expertise that are engaging with a global set of clients to drive productivity in IT operations and core business processes like HR or marketing, elevate their customer experiences and create new business models.

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has shared plans for a new data center architecture for AI workloads, along with the development of its own custom chip for running artificial intelligence models. "This new data center will be an AI-optimized design, supporting liquid-cooled AI hardware and a high-performance AI network connecting thousands of AI chips together for data center-scale AI training clusters," said Santosh Janardhan head of infrastructure at Meta, in a blog post,  adding that the new data center systems will be faster and more cost-effective to build than earlier facilities.
