IBM Security has announced plans to acquire ReaQta, a provider of endpoint security solutions designed to leverage AI to automatically identify and manage threats, while remaining undetectable to adversaries. IBM also detailed a new suite of XDR offerings under the QRadar brand. Upon closing, ReaQta's offerings will become part of this portfolio, adding expanded native XDR capabilities to IBM's security portfolio aimed at helping clients adopt continuous monitoring and rapid response as part of a zero trust approach.

Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com, Inc. company, is releasing Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) DL1 instances, a new instance type designed for training machine learning models. DL1 instances are powered by Gaudi accelerators from Habana Labs (an Intel company) to provide up to 40% better price performance for training machine learning models than the latest GPU-powered Amazon EC2 instances, according to AWS.

Last year, organizations around the world, across all industries, were forced to leverage new technologies on multiple fronts to accommodate a new normal. The adoption of AI and machine learning saw exponential growth to bring about the changes needed to keep up with the shift to remote working.
