Oracle has announced plans to expand its cloud region footprint to support customer demand for Oracle Cloud services worldwide. Over the next year, Oracle will open 14 cloud regions with new locations across Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. Upcoming cloud regions include Milan (Italy), Stockholm (Sweden), Marseille (France), Spain, Singapore (Singapore), Johannesburg (South Africa), Jerusalem (Israel), Mexico, and Colombia. Additional second regions will open in Abu Dhabi (U.A.E.), Saudi Arabia, France, Israel, and Chile. Oracle plans to have at least 44 cloud regions by the end of 2022, continuing one of the fastest expansions of any major cloud provider.

IBM's board of directors has approved the previously announced separation of Kyndryl, the company's managed infrastructure services business. Back in October 2020, IBM announced plans to separate the Managed Infrastructure Services unit of its Global Technology Services division into a new public company, creating two companies, each with strategic focus and flexibility to drive client and shareholder value.  "The separation of Kyndryl is a significant step in the continued evolution of IBM," said Arvind Krishna, IBM chairman and CEO.

The Linux Foundation has raised $10 million in new investments to expand and support the Open Source Security Foundation (OpenSSF), a cross-industry collaboration that brings together multiple open source software initiatives under one umbrella to identify and fix cybersecurity vulnerabilities in open source software and develop improved tooling, training, research, best practices, and vulnerability disclosure practices. According to a report released by Honeywell, 91% of surveyed data center managers have experienced at least one disruptive incident during the last 12 months, including downtime related to an outage (54%), a cyber or physical breach (38%) or unplanned downtime (34%).
