Splice Machine is releasing a plugin for Apache Ranger to provide centralized security administration for its customers on Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP). The Apache Ranger plugin will provide Splice Machine customers with a framework for central administration of security policies, and the monitoring of user access and security-related administrative actions within all of the components of Splice Machine. It also provides enhanced support for various authorization methods, such as role-based access control, attribute-based access control and more.

IBM and Cegid, a provider of performance-enhancing cloud management solutions, announced an enterprise services agreement to enhance Cegid's service delivery in a hybrid IBM Cloud environment. Under the new agreement, IBM will provide hybrid cloud IT infrastructure as a service and will give Cegid access to its cloud resources and capabilities, including providing services running on IBM's data center in Paris, France.

On June 20th, the Microsoft SQL Server team dropped the most recent release of SQL Operations Studio to the public. This is just one of many, many product announcements that demonstrate Microsoft's very serious commitment to interoperability and to meeting the needs of their customers wherever they reside, even if that's outside of the Microsoft ecosystem. One of the hallmarks of SQL Operations Studio, compared to the venerable SQL Server Management Studio, is that it's lightweight and expandable.

Oracle has announced availability of the Internet Intelligence Map which provides users with a simple, graphical way to track the health of the internet and gain insight into the impact of events such as natural disasters or state-imposed interruptions. Oracle's Internet Intelligence team frequently publishes data and analysis that informs public understanding of the technical underpinnings of the internet and its effects on topics like geopolitics and e-commerce. With the new availability of the Internet Intelligence Map, Oracle says it is now making core analytic capabilities available to everyone.
