SAP is releasing an S/4 HANA Cloud update that further enhances user experience and improves the platform's machine learning capabilities. Replacing the manual aspects of day-to-day finance with automation is a core focus at SAP S/4HANA Cloud. The latest update takes aim at financial transactions and reporting on currency risks by including treasury management. Treasury deals such as fixed term deposits, FX forwards, and interest rate swaps can be managed with ease.

Databricks, founded by the team that created Apache Spark, has secured $140 million in a Series D funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz. There are plenty of pronouncements about artificial intelligence—both in terms of the miracles it can produce and the threat it poses to humanity. But according to Ali Ghodsi, co-founder and CEO of Databricks, there is actually a "1% problem" in that there are a handful of companies such as Google, Amazon, and a few others that are actually accomplishing their goals with it. AI has vast potential but some of the claims, as well as the fears, are overstated and a little premature right now, he contends.

The production release of Oracle Database Programming Interface for C (ODPI-C) is now available on GitHub. ODPI-C is an open source library of C code that simplifies access to Oracle Database for applications written in C or C++. It is available as source code on GitHub under the Apache 2.0 and/or the Oracle UPL licenses, for direct inclusion into a code base.

Barracuda Networks, a provider of cloud-enabled security and data protection solutions, has added the ability to replicate data from either an on-premises physical or virtual backup appliance to AWS. The new feature provides customers, resellers, and MSPs with greater flexibility and choice to protect their data from data loss and potential disasters, including security threats like ransomware. This adds an additional option for customers, in addition to the ability to replicate to the Barracuda Cloud.
