Cohesity, a provider of "hyper-converged" secondary storage, has released version 2.0 of its Cohesity Data Platform, which includes new performance, management, and security features for enterprise. The Cohesity Data Platform helps customers consolidate secondary storage use cases, such as data protection, test and development, and file services. Currently, the IT industry is the midst of a major transition as it moves from the last generation - the internet generation - to the new generation of cloud and big data, said Andy Mendelsohn, Oracle's EVP of Database Server Technologies, who recently talked with DBTA about database products that Oracle is bringing to market to support customers' cloud initiatives. "Oracle has been around a long time. This is not the first big transition we have gone through," said Mendelsohn.
