Oracle is acquiring LogFire, a provider of cloud-based warehouse management applications for integrated warehouse, inventory and workforce management. The pending addition of LogFire Cloud is expected to complement the logistics functionality of the Oracle Supply Chain Management product suite by adding cloud-based warehouse management capabilities. Oracle also said it is currently reviewing the existing LogFire product roadmap and will be providing guidance to customers.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise today announced plans for a spin-off and merger of its non-core software assets with Micro Focus in a transaction valued at roughly $8.8 billion. The software assets include HPE's Application Delivery Management, Big Data, Enterprise Security, Information Management & Governance and IT Operations Management businesses. According to the vendors, added to Micro Focus' complementary portfolio, the combined assets will create one of the world's largest pure-play software companies

Describing itself as the world's largest privately-controlled technology company, the combined entity will be known as Dell Technologies.

Revelation's OpenInsight solution continues to be enhanced, this time with new reporting tool upgrades and other updates. In conjunction with the Linear Hash Reporting and Resizing Tool released in March 2016, Revelation is publishing a sizelock administration tool called RTI_SET_SIZELOCK. This tool will enable OpenInsight system administrators to view linear hash statistics within an application and identify and modify the file sizelock parameter.

Hazelcast, a provider of an open source in-memory data grid, has announced the general availability of Hazelcast 3.7. According to the company, the latest release is 30% faster than previous versions and is the first fully modularized version of Hazelcast. Each client/language and plugin is now available as a module - speeding up the development process for open source contributors, with new features and bug fixes released as modules alongside Hazelcast 3.7.

IBM has announced that Workday, a provider of enterprise cloud applications for finance and human resources, has adopted the IBM Cloud as part of a multi-year strategic partnership. IBM Cloud will become the foundation for Workday's development and testing environment. IBM Cloud will provide capacity expansion in support of Workday's development and testing requirements. "Workday will use IBM Cloud to continue accelerating Workday's internal development and testing efforts to support our ongoing global expansion," said Aneel Bhusri, co-founder and CEO of Workday.

Nervana has announced its planned acquisition by Intel, a move it says indicates that Intel is formally committing to pushing the forefront of AI technologies. Google has announced that all of its database storage products are generally available and covered by corresponding service level agreements (SLAs). With this announcement, the company says, Cloud SQL, Cloud Bigtable and Cloud Datastore are now generally available.
