At AWS re:Invent, Amazon Web Services, Inc., an Amazon.com, Inc. company, unveiled the new Amazon CodeGuru Reviewer Secrets Detector, an automated tool that helps developers detect secrets in source code or configuration files, such as passwords, API keys, SSH keys, and access tokens. The new Secrets Detector tool uses ML to identify hard-coded secrets as part of the code review process, ultimately helping to avoid problems before being merged and deployed.

DataCore Software, an independent vendor of software-defined Storage solutions, is acquiring MayaData, the original developer of OpenEBS and developer of MayaStor. The move follows a joint venture between the two companies in January 2020 that included funding, technology licensing, transfer of the DataCore container team to MayaData, and seats on the board of director for DataCore's CEO and primary investors. Now, MayaData and its entire San Jose CA-based team become part of DataCore. Financial terms were not disclosed.

IBM Security has announced plans to acquire ReaQta, a provider of endpoint security solutions designed to leverage AI to automatically identify and manage threats, while remaining undetectable to adversaries. IBM also detailed a new suite of XDR offerings under the QRadar brand. Upon closing, ReaQta's offerings will become part of this portfolio, adding expanded native XDR capabilities to IBM's security portfolio aimed at helping clients adopt continuous monitoring and rapid response as part of a zero trust approach.
