NuoDB, the distributed SQL database company, is improving its database with new container-native features. The release of NuoDB v3.3 adds the availability for Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, a Kubernetes and containers application platform. Customers will now gain the flexibility to deploy a distributed SQL database into their preferred architecture. NuoDB is now available for Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform where it can be actively provisioned, managed, and controlled.

Data lakes have helped organizations deal with the massive amounts of data generated daily. They are intended to serve as a central repository for raw data, a treasure trove for data scientists to analyze and gain actionable insight. They also serve as the foundation for many "self-service" analytics initiatives. While getting data into a lake is simple, getting insight and value from all of that data, however, has proven to be challenging for many organizations. A recent Forrester report found that 60%-73% of all enterprise data goes unused for analytics. This statistic exposes some of the harsh realities of data lakes.

Thanks to the dramatic uptick in GPU capabilities, gone are the days when data scientists created and ran models in a one-off manual process. This is good news because the one-off model was typically not optimized to get the best results. The bad news is that with an increase in the total number of models created—including iterations over time—the amount of data used as inputs and generated by the models quickly spirals out of control. The additional bad news is that there are a variety of complexities associated with model, data, job, and workflow management.
