In a partnership announced today, Tableau Software and Attivio will combine Attivio's Active Intelligence Engine (AIE) with Tableau's visualization and rapid-fire BI solutions to enable unified information access for customers. Attivio and Tableau have completed joint product testing and certification enabling their mutual customers to build new Tableau analytic dashboards based on the AIE platform.

Oracle has announced the availability of Oracle Exalytics In-Memory Machine, a high-speed engineered system featuring in-memory business intelligence software and hardware. Oracle Exalytics features a new release of Oracle BI Foundation Suite and Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database for Exalytics enhanced for an Oracle Sun server designed for in-memory analytics. According to Oracle, the interactive real-time analysis enabled by Oracle Exalytics, is intended to enable organizations to maximize profitability, increase revenues and market share, and react more quickly to changing business conditions.

Oracle has announced the availability of Oracle Advanced Analytics, a new option for Oracle Database 11g that combines Oracle R Enterprise with Oracle Data Mining. According to Oracle, Oracle R Enterprise delivers enterprise class performance for users of the R statistical programming language, increasing the scale of data that can be analyzed by orders of magnitude using Oracle Database 11g.

BMMsoft Corporation, a provider of real-time analytic software that automates the storing, integration, management and analysis of big data, has announced the availability of high-speed EDMT 9 for large enterprises, which it says can be deployed instantly and without intensive programming needed by other big data systems. InterSystems HealthShare has been chosen to support health information exchange (HIE) throughout Denmark. The Danish NSI (Nationalt Sundheds-IT), an agency operating under the Ministry of Health, is beginning development of a new service to link healthcare information systems used within Danish regions on a national level. Splunk Inc. has released the latest version of its flagship software, Splunk Enterprise 4.3, which extracts and harnesses customers' machine data and translates it into real-time operational intelligence. One of the cornerstones of Splunk's design has been its ease of use, and the latest release continues that emphasis, according to the company. Splunk 4.3 supports non-IT and business users by making it, "a lot simpler to organize a dashboard or visualization according to how you want to see it yourself without having to code anything or speak to the IT person," Sanjay Mehta, senior director of product marketing at Splunk, tells 5 Minute Briefing. SAP AG has introduced the SAP BusinessObjects Sales Analysis for Retail analytic application powered by the SAP HANA platform. The promise is immense - harness all the available information within the enterprise, regardless of data model or source, and mine it for insights that can't be seen any other way. In short, senior managers become more effective at business planning, spotting emerging trends and opportunities and anticipating crises because they have the means to see both the metaphorical trees and the forest at the same time. EMC Corporation has introduced the EMC Greenplum Unified Analytics Platform (UAP), a platform to support big data analytics, that combines the co-processing of structured and unstructured data with a productivity engine that enables collaboration among data scientists. The new EMC Greenplum UAP brings together the EMC Greenplum database for structured data, the enterprise Hadoop offering EMC Greenplum HD for the analysis and processing of unstructured data, and EMC Greenplum Chorus, its new productivity engine for data science teams. Greenplum UAP will be available in the first quarter of calendar 2012.

The release of OpenInsight 9.3, the next version of Revelation Software's flagship product, is now imminent, and includes many new features eagerly awaited by Revelation customers. SAP AG has announced the availability of SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse (SAP NetWeaver BW) 7.3 running on the SAP HANA platform. Oracle has entered into an agreement to acquire Endeca Technologies, Inc., a provider of unstructured data management, web commerce and business intelligence solutions. "Together, we will provide best-in-class technology to manage structured and unstructured data together; business intelligence tools to analyze structured and unstructured data together; and a broad suite of packaged applications which extends the value of unstructured data into ERP, Supply Chain, CRM, EPM, Web Commerce, and specialized applications," said Thomas Kurian, executive vice president, Oracle Development, in an announcement issued by Oracle. "This technology will also allow us to integrate more comprehensive unstructured data management into Oracle's engineered systems."

Teradata, a data analytic data solutions provider, announced the latest update to its flagship data warehouse product, as well as new features in its data warehouse appliance. Teradata Database 14 is designed as the analytical engine for powering all of the vendor's "purpose-built" platform family members - from enterprise data warehouses to appliances. "We're including big data application support," says Scott Gnau, president of Teradata Labs at a briefing at the vendor's recent user group event.
