IBM released its fourth-quarter and annual revenue numbers for 2015, showing soft business overall. However, the company's cloud, analytics, and mainframes continued to surge forward. Total revenue for the year 2015 was $81.7 billion, down 12% from the previous year, and down almost 24% from a peak of $106.9 billion in 2011.

Red Hat, Inc., a provider of open source solutions, has begun shipping an update to its open source IT automation framework, designed to bring increased stability, new automation capabilities, and new integrations with a variety of services and providers. Rackspace has added three key enhancements spanning data storage, security, and DR to the ObjectRocket offering for MongoDB to address requirements in mission-critical enterprise scenarios. The new capabilities were announced in a blog post by Kyle Hunter, product marketing manager for ObjectRocket solutions at Rackspace. "Cloud has become a strategic imperative for our customers," said Christopher Ratcliffe, SVP, EMC Core Technologies. Microsoft and Linux software provider Red Hat have announced a partnership to provide Red Hat solutions on the Microsoft Azure cloud service. Microsoft is offering Red Hat Enterprise Linux as the preferred choice for enterprise Linux workloads on Microsoft Azure.
