HiT Software, a provider of database access, integration and replication technology, has announced the newest release of a family of ODBC and OLE DB connectivity products optimized for the IBM DB2 v.9 environment including IBM DB2 for z/OS, and IBM DB2 for Windows, Unix, and Linux. HiT ODBC and OLE DB connectivity products now offer full compatibility with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008, allowing developers and programmers to capitalize on Microsoft's advanced features for data scalability and application development, making them fully available to IBM DB2 v.9 systems.

ParAccel, Inc., a provider of massively parallel processing (MPP) columnar database technology, has introduced version 2.0 of the ParAccel Analytic Database (PADB) for data warehousing and analytics. PADB 2.0 tackles complex business questions faster by leveraging dozens of new features and enhancements, including patent-pending innovations in query optimization and SAN integration. IBM has announced a new version of Tivoli Identity Manager security software that tackles the fragmented state of the identity and access governance market with a single solution that helps organizations administer, secure, monitor and certify user identities and their access to applications, information and systems. Critical business information no longer resides solely in the data center. Organizations must be able to control who has access to what information across entire IT and data center environments including systems, devices, data and applications, while also reporting compliance with industry and government regulations.

IBM recently announced expanded feed coverage and additional features for the WebSphere Front Office for Financial Markets version 3 platform designed to help financial firms efficiently handle enormous amounts of data from multiple, disparate sources and make electronic trading decisions based on this information more quickly than ever before. WebSphere Front Office for Financial Markets offers data vendor independence and can accept feeds from virtually any provider. Supported feeds include major U.S. and international data sources, and primarily come from the major financial and securities exchanges around the world. The system can also simultaneously offer varying levels of quality of service depending on the type of application that requires the data (e.g., front office trading systems would require a higher level of service in terms of reduced data feed latency versus back office risk management systems that can tolerate a bit more latency).

Sentrigo, Inc., a provider of database security software, has announced that it has become the sole distributor of Repscan by Red-Database-Security, a 360-degree database vulnerability assessment and security scanning software available for Oracle databases. The product complements and integrates with Sentrigo's Hedgehog family of database activity monitoring software for protecting corporate databases from privileged insiders as well as malicious hackers. Repscan and Hedgehog products are available for download and free evaluation from the Sentrigo website. Repscan scans and reports on Oracle database weaknesses and vulnerabilities.

Sybase last week reported financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2009. Total revenue for the first quarter of 2009 increased to $267.5 million from $260.1 million in the first quarter of 2008. License revenue grew to $89.3 million compared to $78.1 million in the first quarter of 2008. Services revenue was $135.0 million, and messaging revenue was $43.3 million in the 2009 first quarter.
