More than 1,000 developers and Tizen contributors are expected to meet in San Francisco for the 3-day Tizen Developer Conference, which focuses exclusively on the developer ecosystem around the Tizen open source operating system for converged devices. "Whether you are a platform developer wanting to use Tizen or an app developer who wants to build apps for deployment on Tizen, this is the only place you want to go. The whole point of the Tizen Developer Conference is knowledge transfer," said Brian Warner, manager of the Tizen Project.

Ariba, an SAP company that provides cloud-based procurement solutions, is moving to SAP HANA, the company's in-memory platform for real-time computing. The initial step, involving the transition of Ariba Spend Visibility has been completed and the company is now shifting the Ariba Network to the platform. "We have been running cloud operations here for 15 years at Ariba, and we have a mature cloud platform, said SAP Ariba engineering vice president Mark Dao.

The explosion of machine data has made it impossible for humans to write every rule to detect relevant events. Most of these events are unknown, new (or rather anomalous), or indescribable, and as a result, they go undetected. New Cloudera certification enables customers to use Tungsten Replicator 3.0 to replicate transactions from operational database systems such as MySQL, MariaDB and Oracle to Cloudera Enterprise 5 in real-time.
