Continuing toward architecting a single cloud platform that is tuned for AI and data, IBM announced that it is expanding its network of cloud data centers with four new ones, including two in the UK (London), one in Australia (Sydney) and one in the U.S. (San Jose). Centerbridge Partners, L.P., a private investment firm, is acquiring enterprise software providers Syncsort and Vision Solutions from Clearlake Capital Group, L.P. Upon completion of the $1.26 billion transaction, Syncsort and Vision will be combined, creating what Centerbridge calls a "big iron to big data" platform investment controlled by Centerbridge, and operating under the Syncsort name.

Xcalar, a startup offering business analytic solutions, is releasing version 1.2 of its business analytics platform, enabling the fastest, easiest, and most cost-effective access to actionable insights.
