Talend, a leading provider of open source data integration software, recently announced the availability of version 3.1 of its data integration solutions, Talend Open Studio and Talend Integration Suite. Talend Open Studio is the free, open source version of the software and is a full data integration platform. Teradata Corporation and SAP have announced a new agreement to provide SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse (SAP BW) on the Teradata database. Vertica, a column-oriented analytic database technology provider, has announced a major new release of the Vertica Analytic Database with new performance, analytic and security features designed for robust analytic data management processes in modern data centers. IBM today announced the acquisition of the assets of Exeros, a privately-held company based in Santa Clara, Calif., that provides data discovery software. Financial details were not disclosed. The acquisition, IBM says, will further strengthen its Information Agenda strategy to help companies turn data into a strategic asset, and provides new capabilities for its recently announced Business Analytics Optimization Consulting practice.

QLogic Corp., a network infrastructure solutions vendor, announced that it has acquired NetXen, Inc., a supplier of a 10Gbit/E products. QLogic will pay approximately $21 million in cash for NetXen, subject to certain closing adjustments. Both companies serve the same customers and address similar markets, QLogic says, and the acquisition provides QLogic with complementary networking products and intellectual property.

Sentrigo, Inc., a provider of database security software, has announced that it has become the sole distributor of Repscan by Red-Database-Security, a 360-degree database vulnerability assessment and security scanning software available for Oracle databases. The product complements and integrates with Sentrigo's Hedgehog family of database activity monitoring software for protecting corporate databases from privileged insiders as well as malicious hackers. Repscan and Hedgehog products are available for download and free evaluation from the Sentrigo website. Repscan scans and reports on Oracle database weaknesses and vulnerabilities.

SAP AG has announced the availability of enhancements to the SAP BusinessObjects Edge software portfolio, including new features in the release of SAP BusinessObjects Edge BI 3.1, its comprehensive business intelligence software for small businesses and midsize companies (SMBs). One of the main new Edge BI 3.1 features is the inclusion of SAP BusinessObjects Polestar software, a guided data navigation application that helps any business user to easily explore information and quickly answer important business questions via simple search. Edge BI 3.1also now supports databases and applications from other vendors, recognizing the fact that the majority of SMBs have mixed IT infrastructures.

Sybase last week reported financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2009. Total revenue for the first quarter of 2009 increased to $267.5 million from $260.1 million in the first quarter of 2008. License revenue grew to $89.3 million compared to $78.1 million in the first quarter of 2008. Services revenue was $135.0 million, and messaging revenue was $43.3 million in the 2009 first quarter.

IBM has announced version 9.7 of DB2 and InfoSphere Warehouse software, focused on transactional performance improvements in the DB2 database, and on expansion of analytics to XML data in the InfoSphere Data Warehouse. Both new products also reduce an even greater amount of space needed to store data, helping clients to gain significant savings on related costs including energy.
