Cloudera has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by affiliates of Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) and KKR in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $5.3 billion. The transaction will result in Cloudera becoming a private company and is expected to close in the second half of 2021. The agreement also includes a 30-day "go-shop" period expiring on July 1, 2021.

In teaming with Oracle, the Premier League will be able to provide in-match statistics that enable a deeper understanding of the live action on the pitch. To support growing customer demand for cloud services in Brazil, Oracle has opened the Vinhedo cloud region. The new region follows the launch of its São Paulo cloud region last year, making Brazil Oracle's latest country offering dual cloud regions. The opening marks Oracle's 30th cloud region worldwide and is part of Oracle's global plan to operate 38 cloud regions by the end of 2021. The digital transformation efforts in Brazil have been accelerated by the global pandemic and Oracle is working with organizations across Brazil to help them move to the cloud securely and in compliance with data sovereignty regulations.

Oracle is participating in Unified ID 2.0, a non-commercial, soon-to-be open source, interoperable framework that offers marketers a new approach to identity, while preserving the value exchange of advertising, and respecting the privacy and protection of consumers. "Our integration with Unified ID 2.0 will enable marketers to unlock the value of first-party data, or leverage quality third-party audience data through our powerful Oracle ID Graph, to connect data and reach desired consumers across platforms and devices with relevancy and scale," explained Mollie Spillman, SVP and chief revenue officer, Oracle Advertising, in an Oracle blog post.

Whatever you think about NFTs, the increase in load on the Ethereum network has created another scalability crisis. Ethereum transaction fees are going through the roof, and delays on the network are increasing. If Ethereum is going to compete successfully against up-and-coming alternative chains such as Hedera Hashgraph, something has to be done to improve the throughput of the network. Luckily, we are on the verge of several big paradigm shifts in Ethereum with ETH 2.0, which may pave the way for greater throughput.

Airbyte,  creator of an open source data integration platform, has raised more than $26 million in Series A funding. The company says it solves two problems: First, companies always have to build and maintain connectors on their own—most "long tail'' data connectors are orphans that are not supported by closed-source ELT technologies. Second, data teams often have to do custom work around pre-built connectors to make them work within their data architecture. The open source approach addresses both problems with a user community that supports more connectors, which can be shared and used widely.
