According to IBM, the availability of OpenShift for Z and LinuxONE is a major milestone for both hybrid multi-cloud and for enterprise computing. OpenShift supports cloud-native applications being built once and deployed anywhere—and now extends this to on-premise enterprise servers such as IBM Z and LinuxONE. The offering is the result of the collaboration between the IBM and Red Hat development teams and discussions with early adopter clients.

Arvind Krishna has been elected as the CEO of IBM and a member of its board of directors. In this role, Krishna succeeds Virginia "Ginni" Rometty, IBM chairman, president, and CEO, who will continue as executive chairman of the board and serve through the end of the year, when she will retire after almost 40 years with the company.
