Broadcom Limited and Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. have entered into a definitive agreement under which Broadcom will acquire Brocade, a vendor in the Fibre Channel storage area network switching and IP networking space, in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $5.5 billion, plus $0.4 billion of net debt, for a total of $5.9 billion. After all, we're all so busy juggling massive amounts of data and programming requests that we sometimes tune out other important factors that can affect how well IT organizations function.
