MongoDB has announced the release of MongoDB 3.6. With this release it is now easier and faster to build always-on applications that react in real time to changes in data streamed across distributed systems, said Dev Ittycheria, president and CEO, MongoDB.  And, he added, with the addition of new and enhanced management and security features, "developers get the freedom and confidence to run MongoDB in the most demanding environments to support mission-critical applications."

Software AG is releasing Terracotta DB, a distributed, in-memory database platform that delivers high-speed performance for combined operational and analytical processing. BMC, a provider of data center solutions, announced the results of its 12th annual Mainframe Research Report, highlighting the power and value of the mainframe for digital business. The survey of 1,000 enterprises finds even as many organizations continue to adopt multi-cloud technologies as part of their dramatic transformation, the mainframe remains a relevant and growing data center hub for many. The survey highlights that organizations are committed to the mainframe, as respondents are modernizing their operations and technologies, have a more positive attitude toward the mainframe, and are changing their workforce to ensure the right staffing and skills are on board.

OpenStack community leaders announced a plan to overcome the hardest problem in open source today: integrating and operating open source technologies to solve real-world problems. The OpenStack Foundation and community are investing significant financial and technical resources in a four-part strategy to address integration of OpenStack and relevant open source technologies: documenting cross-project use cases, collaborating across communities, including upstream contributions to other open source projects, fostering new projects at the OpenStack Foundation, and coordinating end-to-end testing across projects.

A new Oracle study reveals that enterprises view in-application communications technologies as critical to enhancing customer experiences and gaining a competitive edge and higher growth. While 65% of enterprise IT decision makers polled noted that embedded communications will become the dominant way of communicating with employees, suppliers and customers moving forward, nearly half (46%) noted they lack the expertise to deploy new communications technologies.

NVIDIA announced in a blog post recently that Oracle is using NVIDIA's Tesla GPU accelerators for its public cloud. Oracle's cloud customers can access NVIDIA Tesla P100 GPU accelerators, starting today, and Oracle will expand its cloud offerings to include the Tesla V100 GPUs, which are based on the NVIDIA Volta architecture.

Hazelcast, a provider of an open source in-memory data grid (IMDG), is releasing an updated version of its platform, enhancing usability, performance, and scalability. Hazelcast IMDG 3.9 expands its near cache abilities to include for all clients including Scala, .Net/C#, C++, Python and Node.js. Enhanced application speed is the key of benefit of using near cache. Near cache is often used to serve a small subset of very hot items with minimal latency.

NVIDIA is releasing the NVIDIA GPU Cloud Container registry for AI developers, allowing them to begin deep learning development. The cloud-based service is available immediately to users of the just-announced Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) P3 instances featuring NVIDIA Tesla V100 GPUs. NVIDIA plans to expand support to other cloud platforms soon.
